“What gets scheduled gets done”
I wrote this on a sticky note when listening to a telephone broadcast from another local organizer.
What do you think? Do you believe this to be true?
I’m not sure that I believe that everything that gets scheduled gets done, but I DO believe that the opposite is true:
What does not get scheduled does not get done.
I’d love to hear what YOU think about this topic.
- Does scheduling something help you to get it done?
- If not, what tools are effective for you in getting
things done?

Having a planner and staying consistent with it (or a to-do checklist at the very least) keeps me focused and inspires me to be productive with my day. I have definitely noticed that I procrastinate less on the days I have things I need to do.
Hi Christina, consistency is a great achievement! I find I procrastinate less when I choose my priorities for a day the night before, so I don’t spend my valuable morning energy making to-do decisions.
I always think that by adding many things to my to do list, it will increase my chances of doing all of those things. However, it just becomes overwhelming and I end up letting myself down because I only did a few things on my to do list. I think in order to do all of the things you schedule for yourself, you must know yourself and set realistic goals. Maybe setting a maximum number of items to put on your to do list or by prioritizing your to do list (A items – most important, B items – second most important, etc.) you can feel more organized and effectively achieve your goals.
Hi Mika! To-do lists are wonderful ways to keep track of things, but they don’t serve their purpose well when they make us feel overwhelmed and defeated. Setting boundaries really helps, such as a maximum number of to-do items per day. And knowing yourself and setting realistic goals is very important, too!
