Having a clean and clutter free home can support the spirit of freedom and pride many of us feel around the 4th of July. A decluttered and open space is so inviting for all of those family parties and food-filled get-togethers!
The question is not “Why should I declutter?” but “Gosh, where do I start?” Think about what you want to do this summer. Do you want to have a few friends over for card games and a back yard barbecue? Or, how about having the extended family over, with the kids playing with sparklers in the back yard? Or both?
We suggest a holistic approach on a space-by-space basis. In each room, evaluate what should stay and what should go. Apply the same principles to your yard and outside spaces. Ask yourself, do your kids really need bikes from when they were much smaller? Does each piece of lawn equipment have a place and a purpose? Do you truly need three rakes? Will you really get around to repairing the broken one?
For more tips on decluttering while maintaining harmony in your home, check out our ebook on decluttering your household, “All in the Family; Clutter and your Primary Relationships”. Shared spaces like your yard and front rooms often collect clutter that belongs to all members of the household. A diplomatic touch and clear agreements can keep harmony as you clear out the clutter.
Have a fantastic holiday and make sure those that you love know how much you care.
